STYLE GURU STYLE: Spice Up Fall

Hi there, Fashionistas!

The air is getting colder, the ground is getting wetter and the bill for the heater in the house is increasing. It is the holiday-filled, sweater induced, best time of the year, and what better way to celebrate than with some classic fall fashion?

As showcased in the fall 2016 ready-to-wear Joie collection, we see everything we love about autumn: the brown and orange colors of leaves reflected in our clothing choices, the snugness of big jackets and boots for days. Each and every outfit in this collection stole my heart and ran with it. With a twinge of bohemian vibes and high-heeled everything, Joie is speaking my kind of language.

My way of recreating this look began with something as simple as a sweater dress. A standard color, such as gray, allows you to play around with colors in your complementary pieces. Curved hems also attribute a flattering look. At this time of year, sweater dresses can be found in nearly every women’s store and nearly beg you to allow them to keep your warm on your chilly night pub crawl.

To add some “je ne sais quoi,” add a lovely jacket piece. Bomber jackets or parkas emulate an ensemble and choosing one with an integrative fall color does the trick. I opted for a dark, hunter green to help me appreciate the ambiance of autumn.

The choker trend has taken over my life nowadays. I feel as if busting out my choker necklace when an outfit feels a little underdone pushes it the extra mile. Matching green with green assists me in feeling more put together. Consistency is key.

To top off the outfit, as I do with any of my favorite outfits, I slip on my booties. My black ones that are somewhat akin to the Yeezy boots (that people have been attempting to recreate with socks—seriously, check it out) have quickly become my most recent obsession. Any night out you can spot me in these wonderful works of art. Comfort and fashion are my two favorite lovers.

Now, all I need is a hot coffee in my hand and I am set for fall!
