STYLE GURU STYLE: Slick Sneakers

In the wake of New York Fashion Week, lots of new and old styes have been reinvented for fall. Alexander Wang is very famous for his monochromatic and minimalistic color palette. As someone who generally wears black, white and gray, I was automatically drawn to his spring/summer 2016 collection.

There was an overwhelming sense of effortlessness, as a plethora of wearable outfits danced the runway. From leather jackets to jersey knit shirt dresses, the models looked simply cool. Outfits were completed with stylish sneakers—a HUGE street style sensation right now.

I was drawn to this minimalistic collection and wanted to try the monochromatic sneaker trend as seen in Alexander Wang’s collection. I translated this to the likes of my style by wearing black and white Nike 6.0s that I have had since high school. More than five years later, I have found another use for my once back-of-the-closet banished shoes—thanks Alexander Wang!

I wanted to dress my sneakers up, so I chose to pair my dark wash J Brand jeans with a white high-neck tank top. It is finally fall in Ann Arbor, so to conform to the chilly weather, I chose to wear my favorite faux leather jacket, also inspired by the large amounts of leather clothes seen in Alexander Wang’s ready-to-wear fashion show. I had a lot of fun with this look—the sneakers paired with leather is something that I would not have thought to try.

Get My Look: 1. White and black trimmed tank top. 2. Dark wash jeans. 3. Vegan leather jacket. 4. White and black Nike sneakers.
