STYLE GURU STYLE: Shabby-Chic

There is nothing that I love more than being able to be comfortable and stylish at the same time. With the weather getting colder, long neutral cardigans are becoming my go-to. There is something so cool and effortless about combining such a boyish cardigan with a classic piece, like black cigarette pants. I love how these contrasting styles that you might not think to pair together work so well and create such a unique look.

Taking inspiration from Céline’s spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection, I combined my new favorite cardigan with tapered black pants. This collection had a lot of neutral colors and also played with combining different prints. When I saw this collection, the idea of playing with casual and chic pieces came to mind as well. I took inspiration from this idea and paired a graphic T-shirt with tailored, black pants with leather inserts. This runway show also had a lot of different boots and booties, so I put on black booties. The black on black effect gives the illusion of longer legs, which is always a plus.

By pairing classic, chic pieces with more casual pieces, it is easy to let your personality shine. You are given the opportunity to wear a T-shirt that has either writing that expresses your personality or some image that shows who you are and what you like. You can also have some fun with your shoes: this runway show paired white booties with black pants and red booties with black pants.

Get My Look: 1. Any graphic T-shirt. 2. A classic black pant. 3. Black booties. 4. An oversized cardigan.
