STYLE GURU STYLE: Saint Laurent Cool

I have been waiting for what seems like an eternity for it to get cold enough to wear my leather jacket. I am so obsessed with leather jackets, and I think they should exist in everyone’s closet. They are a staple piece that just signifies the word “cool” and one look at the Saint Laurent fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection will have you saying the same thing.

Saint Laurent’s entire show represents the rock-n-roll inside all of us (even if we are too shy to admit it). The collection is mostly black with peeps of bright color, and includes lots of leather, sheer material and fur. It also features a lot of distressing, patterns and very high dress slits. The models in the show display heavy winged eyeliner, bright red lips and a more refined version of bedhead. If you are like me, though, and not daring enough to take on these complete looks, a few key pieces can make the runway into your everyday.

I built this outfit around my favorite piece—you guessed it, my leather jacket. Since it is getting closer to winter leather jackets are everywhere. I was not sure how much I was actually going to wear mine so instead of investing in one I bought a cheaper faux leather one just in case. I styled the jacket after one of the looks from the runway and kept with the sheer shirt. From far away you may not notice but up close my top is printed with polka-dots and it really makes a fun statement. Since this outfit is all black I added some white printed booties to spruce up the monochromatic outfit. Any colored ankle boots will help add a pop of color to the look.

Straight off the runway looks may not always be the best for the everyday life of college students, so instead take inspiration from the looks. You can always take outfits and put a spin on them to help fit your lifestyle like I did.

Get My Look: 1. Leather jacket. 2. Sheer top. 3. Booties.
