STYLE GURU STYLE: Ponchos and Patterns

As much as I love dressing up, I love being comfortably chic even more. My new favorite way of accomplishing this is by throwing on soft sweaters, scarves or ponchos. Ponchos have definitely been a new trend for this past fall season, and I hope they stay around. For my look, I took inspiration from Burberry’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection that showcased various ponchos. This collection was titled, “Patchwork, Pattern and Prints”, which, after looking at photos, was a very fitting title. This collection was filled with bright mixes of colors and patterns, whether it was on a dress, jacket or shoes. I payed extra attention on the different ponchos and how they were styled. My favorite part of Burberry’s ponchos was the fun fringe!

I have always wanted to bring back the poncho into my wardrobe, and after seeing Burberry’s collection, I knew I had to buy one. I went with a simpler and softer color poncho, but still it has the fringe and pattern work that Burberry displayed. It was the perfect day to wear it since it hasn’t been too cold, and I was very comfortable for a day of classes and studying.

I wanted my poncho to be the focus of my look, so I paired it with black skinny jeans, a black long sleeve T-shirt and fun suede flats. Since it’s finals week I kept my hair casual and threw it into a ponytail! No one really has time to get all dressed up during finals, but wearing a poncho is an easy and stylish way to look put together!
