STYLE GURU STYLE: Pinstripes and Layering

When vacation rolls around, people tend to think of bold prints and shorts. But this year, you might want to rethink packing only bright colors and fedoras on vacation with you. While most people associate dark colors as a fall and winter look, that’s not the case this year. Pinstripes, black, gloves and layering are some of the newest trends for resort 2016.

By looking at the Max Mara resort 2016 runway show, I formed an ensemble using one of the trends in the ready-to-wear collection. Each outfit included coats, fur mittens and bomber hats. I focused on the look with dark colors and leather since I already wear this year-round. Seeing it in the show captured my attention and made me excited for the upcoming season.

For my look, I am wearing a pinstripe cropped top with a V-neck to substitute a scoop-necked shirt which is used in the show, a pair of black leather jeans from All Saints and a black cardigan from H&M. I also added black leather gloves to represent the boxing aspect he gave his line in honor of the city of London and white heels to make it more bearable during the hot weather. My makeup remains neutral, and my hair is tied back just like how the models wore it in the show.

The color black and the pinstripe pattern are things I believe can be used in any collection whether it’s summer or winter. They’re universal and can easily be found in any store. They don’t stand out like some of the other trends of the season, which include bold colors and fur accessories.

Get My Look: 1. A pinstripe top. 2. A black pair of jeans.  3. Black gloves.
