STYLE GURU STYLE: Military Grunge

The Yeezy generation is among us, and everyone is loving the comfy, roll-out-of-bed trend. The new year has been revolving around this mixed look of street and military, so I decided I would bring it upon myself to explore the style before the winter ends.

The street style inspired me to keep the look very casual and comfortable because who doesn’t want to be comfortable in the cold? Many designers fell into this trend, such as Rebecca Minkoff in her pre-fall 2015 collection. Every piece was all about the beautiful military olive green that is often referred to as “khaki” and anything else neutral. I decided to play along with these popular colors and made them the statement pieces of my outfit.

Every woman should have basic pieces, such as V-neck shirts in their wardrobes. I always find really great quality shirts from Target, as well as the military styled jacket that I wore. The parka jacket that is worn is the statement piece of this whole outfit; I wanted to work around this jacket since it has been such a staple during these cold months. So to keep my look more masculine, I went ahead and paired my favorite Timberland boots to go with my ensemble. You can’t forget the touch of grunge with the pleather leggings. I was able to snag these cut-at-the-knee leather leggings in an H&M sale, as well as a very fierce fringe backpack from Victoria’s Secret. I loved the way that everything came together. I have styled this jacket in many different ways, but my favorite way is to dress it down and look effortlessly put together.
