STYLE GURU STYLE: Little Black Bag

Of all the runway seasons, pre-fall collections always seem to grasp my attention. When browsing through previous seasons I found the Rebecca Minkoff pre-fall 2013 collection and fell in love. For a while, I have loved her collections—specifically the bags that prompted me to purchase a cross-body bag that I have yet to stop wearing. Each look in the collection is styled perfectly, capturing a casual and layered fall style. What stood out to me in this collection was the way she mixed textures and prints. Through mixing prints and patterns she creates outfits that easily transition between warm and breezy weather.

Taking inspiration from this collection, my look incorporates different aspects from the entire collection. Normally, my style is minimalistic, so staying true to my style; I stuck to a simplistic olive and cream striped T-shirt and my favorite pair of dark wash jeans. This top is perfect for fall weather because it is a knit T-shirt. Knit fabrics and the fall weather go hand in hand. Since my T-shirt is short sleeved, it allows me to wear it by itself on days that are warmer and when it is colder I can layer this T-shirt with a military jacket. I drew inspiration from the collection with the mixing of denim and patterned clothing. I decided to pair my look with a pair of cuffed dark wash jeans, similar to the jeans in the collection. To finish off this look, I wore tan open toed booties with an arrangement of jewelry including a silver statement necklace and stacked gold rings.

Get My Look: 1. A striped T-shirt. 2. Dark wash jeans. 3. Open toed booties.
