STYLE GURU STYLE: Little Bit of Lace

The second I heard that more romantic styles, also dubbed the Neo-Victorian look, were making an appearance on the runways for this fall, I was more than excited. Valentino, among others, had some breathtaking lace looks. The typically all black and white color scheme made the pieces in the fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection look that much more exquisite. The all-white looks were my favorite, which is where I drew inspiration from with my white lace top. Another fall 2015 runway show that inspired part of my outfit was the Loewe ready-to-wear collection. The statement making metallic pieces in the outfits had me wishing for one of the pleated lamé skirts, but my metallic booties did the trick.

The white, lacey tunic is a perfect transitioning piece to wear as the temperature drops. I will not be packing this top away anytime soon! It may not be the romantic white blouse with the Jabot collar that has been taking over the runways, but this is my Neo-Victorian twist on it. Romantic-inspired looks have been popping up everywhere for the fall and this tunic is the perfect mix of romance with a touch of bohemian to build upon to achieve that look. Layers are always a must for pulling off the perfect boho-chic outfit and of course, just in general for the fall. It is a win-win situation. When it comes to layering though, it is best to keep it simple. With too many layers going on, no one will know where to look first. You want to avoid looking as though your outfit is swallowing you whole. If you are not sure where to begin, a denim jacket is a no-fail piece and you can decide what to add next from there.

Even with taking clues from the runway, this outfit still comes together in a way that feels fresh and true to myself. The pieces all work well together and I can’t wait to mix-and-match them to create other looks all season long. The tunic and the booties are two standout pieces on their own but they blend together to create a perfectly feminine look with just a little kick.

Get My Look: 1. A white lace tunic. 2. Booties, preferably metallic. 3. A denim jacket worthy of living in. 4. The perfect statement earrings.
