STYLE GURU STYLE: Kiko Kimono

For this look, I was inspired by Clover Canyon’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection. From the bright colors and patterns to the brown wedged heels, the entire collection made me want to grab all my printed pieces and wear them all at the same time. After digging around in my closet, I discovered that I had a bright printed kimono hidden behind all my black pieces. As I rushed to get ready for my 8:00 a.m. class, I couldn’t help but think that this was the perfect piece for San Diego’s bipolar weather. And really, one of the best feelings in the world is walking into your 8:00 a.m. dressed to impress, instead of looking like you just rolled out of bed. After all, it’s so much better to be fashionably late than just flat out late, right Fashionistas/os?

Since I was going straight from my classes to a girl’s night out, I needed to make sure that my outfit was versatile enough. I needed to find something that was classroom appropriate, but also dressed up enough for a night out. On top of that, I also needed something that fought the chilly breeze and, simultaneously, the hot sun. The printed kimono was perfect for both occasions. Because of the thin fabric of the bird-printed kimono, I was able to stay warm with the breeze, but also cool when the sun came out later in the afternoon.

Under my kimono, I threw on a classic little black dress, which was casual enough to go to class in, but dressed up enough to pair with my favorite cognac heels for dinner. To complement my heels, I paired my outfit with a slouchy cognac clutch. To accessorize, I grabbed two round, pendant necklaces and layered them. I topped off my outfit with my favorite gold bracelet.

Get My Look: 1. A little black dress. 2. A pair of killer heels. 3. A #RAD kimono.
