STYLE GURU STYLE: “It’s So Fluffy, I’m Gonna Die”

Not only do I have a major obsession with the movie Despicable Me (you’ll get my title if you’ve watched it), but I also have an equal amount of love for faux fur and turtlenecks. I’m so glad the fall runways have finally given me a chance to combine both, which in return allows me to fully embrace my inner diva.

My look is based off of Sonia Rykiel’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear show featured in New York. Her show featured turtlenecks, furry vests, high waisted trousers, sparkling dresses and more. The two trends that stuck out to me the most were the turtlenecks as well as the fur jackets. Sonia Rykiel wasn’t the only designer who loved these trends, though. Michael Kors, Mara Hoffman and Emilio Pucci also embraced colorful fur in their shows; while Tanya Taylor and Roberto Cavalli covered up the cleavage with fluffy yet tantalizing turtlenecks.

The collection showcased many ways a Fashionista can wear her beloved turtleneck sweater. I chose to follow the styling of model Jing Wen, by wearing the turtleneck underneath a dress and paired it with a faux fur jacket and knee-high socks. Although the show featured lots of fall colors, I chose to go for a more classic combination of white, black and pink. Living in a cold city like Helsinki, I love that I can feel like a complete princess yet have a modest look that  keeps me incredibly warm. I added my own personal touch with my punk Dr. Martens and pulled my hair back using a fluffy hair tie.
