STYLE GURU STYLE: It Comes Neutral

Weekends call for a cute outfit that stands out from the usual go to dress. The boxy crop top with a dark lip is a must. It’s nice to look sweet and innocent, but sometimes you’ve got to let your rebellious side out. Modesty is cool, but showing a little skin never hurt nobody.

There were so many inspiring looks, but I got the majority of my ideas from Junya Watanabe fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection. Crop tops have been trending for a while now and don’t seem to be making its way out. They are a perfection transition and this collection did more of a box cropped fit instead of a shorter kind of crop top. The colors consisted of white and black; two of my favorite colors considering they look good on everyone. This neutral color palette is exactly what my closet is made of, so I was able to pull a couple of my favorite pieces and style them together. A lot of these items could be turned into a day to night outfit, work or casual street style look.

Neutrals will always be in style and look fierce on everyone. They are basic necessities for your wardrobe. I wanted to create my look in a unique way by adding in key elements that could make it casual or dressy for night time events, such as a concert or going out with your friends. The lace paired with cotton and laser cutouts add a little pizzazz to the outfit, making it more wearable for different outings.

My outfit entails a white lace crop top that hits right above the bellybutton with a more fitted, high-waisted cotton Harem pant. The lace crop top was not fitted and had more of the boxy look like the runway collection had, which is timeless and classy. The laser cutout, black zipper wedges added a bold, rebellious statement along with the wine colored lip from ColourPop Cosmetics, called LAX. I also added the wool hat since my hair doesn’t always seem to cooperate. Voila! A bad hair day is fixed.

Crop tops are a must with any neutrals. That doesn’t mean you can be boring! Add in some color from your makeup, a clutch or your shoes. These are simple necessities that can pull any outfit together. Another plus is that you can find a lot of these items at different stores according to your price point.

Get My Look: 1. Neutral, boxy crop top. 2. A tailored pant. 3. Zipped wedges.
