STYLE GURU STYLE: I'm With the Band

As a fashion enthusiast and avid concert goer, I am more than happy that band T-shirts have become a super-trendy wardrobe staple for all Fashionistas. Finally, all the expensive concert T-shirts I have accumulated over the years are going to be used for something besides pajamas. The wonderful thing about band T-shirts, or graphic T-shirts in general, is their ability to add that cool-girl factor to any and every look. They look effortless, even if you put a whole lot of effort into styling your look.

Band T-shirts are also wonderful because they go with absolutely anything. Want to look casual and feel comfortable for class? Throw one on with boyfriend jeans and a pair of sneakers. Spending an evening in the city with friends? Tuck one in to a high-waisted mini skirt and throw on some printed booties. There’s literally no wrong way of styling them, and they work for every single season too. Paired with leather jackets, they work for fall, and worn with denim shorts or skirts, they are perfect for summer.

I purchased my band T-shirt at a concert for The 1975 two years ago, and it has been an essential wardrobe item for me ever since (especially considering the fact that The 1975 is my favorite band of all time). I decided to pair it with a destroyed denim pencil skirt and black heeled booties to dress it up a bit, but not too much. A cute choker and a boho ring were the perfect little accessories to add some sparkle. I tied the bottom of my T-shirt into a knot to add some extra detailing, but it can be worn oversized when styled with different outfits as well.

Band T-shirts are a hot item right now, so go out and buy one (props to you if you actually listen to the band on your shirt too), dig up an old concert T-shirt from your old T-shirt drawer (and even consider DIY-ing it) or even borrow an old T-shirt from one of your parents for a vintage retro look. The styling possibilities are endless, and you’ll look trendy and chic no matter what!
