STYLE GURU STYLE: Girls Love Rihanna

I am an insanely huge Rihanna fan and she is a major style inspiration for me when I want to turn heads, so when she began collaborating with large clothing brands, I was giddy with excitement.

Sometimes when a celebrity launches a fashion line, it is less about their own fashion sense and more about how famous they are. I don’t think that was the case at all with Rihanna’s Fenty x Puma fall 2016 ready-to-wear collection. I felt it was a true extension of her own style at the time. The collection mainly consisted of black and white street wear and very minimal makeup looks and tons of edgy attitude.

I felt like this collection was made for the urban Fashionista that likes to standout but still be relaxed. To create my own look inspired by this collection, I focused on the black and white color scheme and minimal makeup (and some sassy poses). I paired a long sleeved, black and white shift dress with black, lace-up, thigh-high boots that I purchased from BooHoo and a burgundy beanie for a pop of color. A lot of the looks were not overtly sexy and I felt that with the combination of the dress and boots showed just enough skin.

There were not that many accessories featured in the runway show but I did notice a lot of chokers and lace-up details so I added a black lace-up choker to finish the look.

I was really excited about creating my own version of the runway makeup because I have been waiting for the perfect moment to use my liquid matte lipstick from Lime Crime in the shade Black Velvet. After putting on a light coat of mascara and filling in my brows, I was ready to break necks while strutting to “Pose.”
