STYLE GURU STYLE: Free Flowing Florals

With the turn of a leaf, October’s turn is over and November has arrived. But fall fashion is still in full force and there’s still an opportunity to show off your layered sweaters and booties.

The beautiful rustic colors of fall are in full bloom around campus and I can’t help but be in awe on my way walking to class. For fall, I love to dress in a natural and free fashion. To keep up my wardrobe game, I mix loose and flowy materials with fitted silhouettes. When looking for inspiration, I was reminded of Valentino’s fall 2016 ready-to-wear collection. Their show featured florals and heavy detailed patterns mixed with a color palette representing the colors of autumn and of various shades of neutrals. The creative directors of Valentino captured the fall atmosphere perfectly by creating a collection around living in the moment. This season is all about layering your look and adding delicate, textured details; Valentino mastered just that.

I created my own look from the Valentino collection with a flowy, burnt red A-line knit dress paired with a floral kimono with lace panels. Adding a personal touch to the look, I added a dangle feather necklace, western styled bracelets and my personal favorite, a simple leather watch. I topped off the look with fall-perfect ankle booties. The season is all about layering and accessorizing, and this look is just perfect for just that.

Take hold of the last month of fall before the frigid weather of winter kicks into full gear. Have fun with your look and play around with layers. Who knows, you might find a new favorite style!
