STYLE GURU STYLE: (Faux) Leather for the Weather

There may be nothing better in one’s wardrobe than a leather jacket. It is versatile, oftentimes extremely warm and effortlessly chic. This fall and winter, “biker chic” has stolen the show and mixing it with soft fur adds a touch of femininity and practical warmth for those chilly first months of 2016.

Altuzarra fall 2015 featured the coziest fur-collared jackets. Complete with black leather and studs, Altuzarra nailed the “biker chic” look. From all black looks to blood red skirts to powder blue, every look was monochromatic and simple, aside from the giant puffs of fur lining the collars, of course.

Monochromatic and edgy looks are in, so on cold winter mornings, nothing could be simpler. In my look, instead of a giant fur collar, the lining is soft black faux shearling, which is lined throughout the jacket. Being from Colorado, mountain chic is a unique style that not many understand or often see, especially on the streets of New York City. Even though a great pair of stilettos and a a long black jumpsuit is fabulous, sometimes slowing down the city hustle in a cozy (yet chic) coat and comfy boots is a must. No mountain-chic look is complete without a puff ball beanie, supporting the best team in the AFC West!

Mixing my own simple Colorado style with the sophisticated monochromatic city looks makes for a match made in heaven, both versatile and über stylish. Of course, the hint of leather and shearling fur (always FAUX of course!) adds a little edge to any look that a city girl from Denver, Colorado or New York, New York will absolutely adore.
