STYLE GURU STYLE: Electric Blues

I’ve been waiting patiently all year, and now it’s finally here: coat season! Pretty jackets are my guilty pleasure. There’s something about colorful, geometric and structured coats that just calls out to me.

I always get butterflies when looking at photos of Christian Dior shows, but the fall 2015 couture show swept me off my feet. The looks are pure, clean and conservative, but they are extremely modern and ladylike. I love the coats from this collection because they are unexpected and oversized, but they still have a lot of structure and look great over simple, monochromatic outfits.

Taking inspiration from this specific look in the show, I paired my black staples with a structured coat that pops on the streets of New York. I took a sporty spin on the blue Christian Dior runway look with my own structured neon coat from Topshop. The coated pants I’m wearing are my go-to in the fall. They can make even the most casual outfit look chic and polished. To add a little warmth to this ensemble, I layered a top with a chunky black knit sweater and added my favorite pashmina scarf. These Cole Haan booties, which were my recent Black Friday purchase, help to break up the solidity of the mostly all-black look.

To complete the look, I layered my favorite bracelets and a watch. I like this watch in particular because it doesn’t make too much of a statement. My gold band bracelet is a custom piece from Etsy that has the coordinates to one of my favorite places. The wrap around style blends in with just about any top. I also added these minimalistic earrings just to add a little sparkle to the look. What girl doesn’t want a little extra sparkle in her life?
