STYLE GURU STYLE: Earth Tones

Vests are coming back in the most popular way. In my opinion, what’s not to love about vests? I always find that my struggle is having to cover up a cute outfit with a coat. Furry, puffy, long or short, vests are easily becoming the main attraction of outfits.

For my look, I was inspired by the Piazza Sempione pre-fall 2016 collection. This collection was full of layers and equally full of earth tones. The collection features a lot of beige and maroon; these colors look great together! A lot of the dresses showcased hung loosely over a pair of tights. The qualities inspired the colors I used, as well as the type of shirt, and of course, the layering.

I decided to make my spin on the Piazza Sempione trend more casual. I chose to wear a beige male’s long sleeve shirt to give the appearance of an oversized, loose fitting dress-like top. I rolled the sleeves to make the shirt more feminine and to allow the jewelry to be seen. For my bottoms I chose pair a black leggings, keeping the outfit laid-back and comfortable while still resembling the look of tights. To incorporate some layering, I chose to give this outfit some texture by adding a fuzzy, sheep vest. To incorporate more of the colors expressed in the collection, I topped my outfit with a maroon felt hat. On my feet, I chose to stick with the earth tones and by wearing cognac booties paired with beige socks. I finished off my look with my favorite rose gold Michael Kors watch, beaded bangles and multiple rings.

Earth tones always keep an outfit looking warm and mature; they’ll never let you down!
