STYLE GURU STYLE: Desert Daze

It’s getting warmer in central and southern California, which means Coachella, plus other music festivals are right around the corner! But if you’re like me, knowing that I’m not going to Coachella this year to see the great fashion and hear the amazing music, do not fret. It’s spring, so bring out your boho vibes whenever you go to an event, class or out to brunch.

The alice + olivia spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection sets the example for all of us. Creative director, Stacey Bendet Eisner, says her designs of the desert-inspired pieces stems from the inspiration of “the inner goddess of a woman.” There are reoccurring themes of loose silhouettes, floral patterns and an interesting mixture of subtle, but eclectic finishings all come together to embody the look of a summer heroine.

In addition, Alberta Ferretti also set her mind towards this bohemian trend. In her spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection, Ferretti paired together the ideas of effortless and earthy to create her collection. It was mostly composed of dresses and gowns that left us thinking about the music festival atmosphere.

I decided to translate this runway favorite trend to an everyday outfit. I incorporated most aspects of both collections into my outfit by playing with the dark colors, floral print and ease of my dress. To accessorize the core of my outfit, I carried an eclectic clutch and wore a pair of leather mules. If these clog mules are too crazy for you, try pairing your dress with some cute booties or espadrilles. Also, a big hat is a great supplement to this outfit, but beware of the winds!

Get My Look: 1. A free flowing dress. 2. A bold clutch. 3. A pair of clog mules. 4. A wide-brimmed hat.
