STYLE GURU STYLE: Denim

In the springtime I love wearing denim, especially when it comes to my jean jacket. As I head out to class I find my myself reaching for my jean jacket to throw on all the time. Normally I wear it with a basic T-shirt or an easy swing dress. It seems that this spring my jean jacket is the go-to piece in my wardrobe, which is why I am obsessed with the rag & bone fall 2016 ready-to-wear collection. This collection has such an easygoing vibe and I love the way they incorporate denim into the different looks.

In this collection, the creators of rag & bone, Marcus Wainwright and David Neville, were influence by British tailoring and various military references. I love how the combination of these two things still have such an urban, relaxed feel even though generally they are seen as clean cut and standardized. And as much as I would love to wear one of their pieces like, this one, straight off the runway I am reminded of the fact that I on a college budget.

Using my go-to piece for the spring, my jean jacket, I created this look here that is loosely inspired from the rag & bone show. To me, the juxtaposition of wearing a dress and Birkenstocks plays off the idea that dresses are formal but paired with sandals they have a more playful vibe. This mirrors the idea that tailoring and military style can be made to look and feel more relaxed based on how you style it. You can really see in this look that my personal style comes in through the sunglasses and the purse. I love to add pops of color in my accessories, so here it’s in the pale green of the purse. The thing that I love about fashion is looks can be inspired by the runway but can be made to match your fashion personality in they way that you style the look.

Get My Look: 1. A jean jacket. 2. An easy swing dress. 3. Your favorite pair of sandals.
