STYLE GURU STYLE: Denim For Days

Have you ever heard the saying “less is more?” Bally’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection sure has, and I’m loving it. Filled with minimalist pieces that easily transition from work to play, the collection captured my eye. Bally’s collection features loads of striped blazers paired with my favorite trend: denim on denim. Ok, so you might be saying that this is an absolute no-no. Take one look at this collection, and I’m sure you’ll change your mind just like I did.

The key to recreating this runway look without looking like a Britney Spears/Justin Timberlake flashback is the wash of your denim pieces. For my look, I chose to keep my jeans incredibly light (they’re almost white in the picture). Then I paired the light wash of the jeans with a dark-washed denim jacket. The color-blocking helps the pieces look complementary but not overwhelming to the eye. You can easily reverse the washes to include a darker jean and a light-washed jacket!

To keep my look more casual so it transitions from a day in class to a day out on the town with my girls, I replaced the striped blazer featured in the Bally collection with an easy and comfy striped tank top. To finish the look, I added minimal accessories. The layered gold necklace gives the look a little edge. From there, I chose to pair the lightly colored jeans with my favorite pair of dark leather booties.

Bally’s collection inspired me to bring a little more ’90s fun into my look. I hope you will be inspired too!
