STYLE GURU STYLE: Cool for School

Imagine living in a place that is warm all four seasons. In fact, I don’t think we can speak about seasons… but yes, it sounds amazing, doesn’t it? Welcome to Miami, where the sun is shinning and the birds are singing. Just kidding, but it is a beautiful place. However, for some people that like the cold or experiencing all the seasons, it might not be the ideal place.

For me, it’s been a love-hate relationship. Waking up to sunny days gives you a lot of energy, but sometimes I miss the cozy sweaters and warm clothes. The good and not-so-good part is that we have the rainy season. We are not there yet, but we are getting closer. The gloomy days are coming. The interesting thing about the rainy season is that it’s extremely gray and it feels like the sky is falling, however, it’s still very hot.

I’ve found that during this season it’s hard for me to find an outfit that works with the weather and my style. This is because there so many factors to take in consideration that it becomes more complicated than it should. First, you want to wear boots to avoid getting your feet wet. Second, it’s hot but it’s rainy, so if you get wet and all you are wearing are shorts and a top, get ready for the air conditioner. On the other hand, if you wear something too warm, you will melt outside. Yes, like I said, it gets complicated.

Since I’ve been dealing with this a few years now, I decided to spend some time figuring out the best solution, and this is the outfit that I came up with.

I’m wearing a cropped hooded sweatshirt from Urban Outfitters that has a very cool mixture of oranges. It’s not very warm, but it is warmer than a top or a T-shirt. In addition, I am wearing a pair of black high-waisted jeans that are ripped at the hem. I love the effect that the rips make on the jeans as it makes them look funkier and adds to the outfit. I am also wearing heeled boots, as I hate getting my feet wet on rainy days. On top of this, I’m wearing colorful yellow sunglasses that go with the orange of the hoodie. In Florida, you never know when the sun might come back.

I figured that this outfit could work well for this weather as it’s warm but not too warm. It reflects my style, and in case I get colder, I can always throw a jacket on. Plus, the vibrant colors never stop giving me spring vibes!
