STYLE GURU STYLE: Classics

Getting past the nitty gritty part of the college semester (midterm exams), we can all take a break and reformulate our style. With the holiday season vastly approaching andthe colder weather sweeping in, the layers are coming out to play! I find extreme comfort in neutral layering and a minimalist style, while the rest of the world is breaking out their holiday sweaters and printed socks.

Like the mogul supermodel Iman once said: “In a world full of trends, I want to remain a classic.” Classic style will never go out of style. I’m breaking gender norms with over-sized clothing, unisex accessories and a neutral color scheme. This outfit is a classic and an easy go-to for the funky weather. I wore my over-sized black trench coat for added affect. The sock boots add a pop of color and comfort: they also go great for a day-to-night look. These boots were made for…running the world with style and grace. Whoever said you need sun for sunglasses was painfully wrong. Sunglasses are a great way to tie together a look. They are a great grab-and-go accessory and that applies for all seasons (especially transitional seasons/weather). A classic set of black Ray-Ban Wayfarers and stud earrings are my staple accessories: Less is more and more is overboard.

This look is perfect for any Fashionistas/os to achieve on their own. I owe my outfit inspiration to former president John F. Kennedy (JFK) and Jackie Kennedy-Onassis. Icons of the classic style. It has been 60 years since JFK’s reign, and this style is still in. It is safe to say the Kennedy’s were leading the way.

So, Fashionistas/os grab the neutrals and break down gender norms with unisex style and carry on the legacy of classic style in an over saturated, trendy world.
