STYLE GURU STYLE: Boho For The Holidays

December is finally here which means we’re officially approaching my favorite time of year: the holiday season! It’s a time to string up the twinkling lights, sip on hot chocolate, and listen to “Michael Bublé Christmas” on repeat.  If you’re stuck in an apartment or dorm room, YouTube some fireplace videos to really ramp up the cozy atmosphere (RA approved!). Excluding finals, does the school year get much better? While the decorations and high spirits make for some special memories, the real factor that confirms the beauty of this season is the #sweaterweather. If you’ve been waiting for the opportunity to fashionably sport those black leggings five days a week, this is YOUR time to shine.

As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, I have a soft-spot for comfort when it comes to style. Comfort can be how confident you are in the outfit or how cozy the items actually feel on your skin. Comfort, in both senses, is what I sought after here. For this outfit, I wore light-washed skinny jeans underneath. I typically switch to a darker wash in the winter, but the sunny day encouraged the lighter shade. I just recently bought this Melrose + Market oversized sweater that I wore on top. The sweater feels like a blanket, making it my most-loved statement piece right now. For shoes, I opted for brown platforms to give my toes the spotlight before their hibernation. These can be easily swapped for ankle booties with the cooler weather.

Statement pieces that have bohemian flare are worthy splurges this winter. Whether you choose distressed jeans, a hooded scarf or a patterned sweater, you’re sure to get your use out of them!

Get My Look: 1. Skinny jeans or Black leggings. 2. Oversized sweater. 3. Platform shoes.
