STYLE GURU STYLE: Back to School in Cold Weather

As school has been approaching, I’ve decided to share some outfit ideas that you can wear when classes start. Even though it is freeeeeeezing (for those in tri-state area), there’s no reason we should have to tone down our style!

Going back to school, we obviously all need something to hold our books and laptop. I’m focusing on the color scheme in the details so for my bag I decided to wear my faux leather bag with some silver accents. I’ve never been a huge fan of traditional backpacks so this was a perfect fit for me as the size holds everything I need but also keeps me trendy. I paired this bag with a black parka to keep me warm in this tundra we are experiencing. I love this basic black parka because it literally goes with everything and anything. I think the faux fur gives it a little more glam in this snow.

I’ve always been a no pants kind of girl, and for those who are in the same boat as I, you and I both will be wearing dresses all year round. I actually got this denim overall dress in Europe. I thought it would be perfect for both summer and winter and luckily, the denim material makes it warm enough to wear in the cold weather. The silver buttons perfectly match with the silver accents in my bag and the back of my boots. Underneath, I paired it with an almost turtleneck crop top sweater in my all-time favorite color (olive green has been so in trend this past year and I hope it stays). For the rest of my exposed legs, I decided it’d be best to wear my highest boots so I don’t freeze. For this season, every girl needs to find themselves a go-to pair of black over-the-knee boots. They are so universal and can dress up every outfit. For those lucky enough to be in warmer weather, I have also worn this outfit with strappy black sandals—try it out!

Finally to finish of the look, of course I had to accessorize with a choker. This is just a basic plastic choker. I really love to focus and construct my outfit based on color. I’m not saying you have to wear the same color in every piece of clothing, but staying within two colors schemes will make your outfit look more cohesive. The splash of green and silver accent brings out the black scheme I have going on. Yet, it’s not too messy and still looks put together. If you don’t love to wear just a single color like myself, I recommend my favorite rule to abide by: match the color of your bag to your shoes. Just a little tip for future outfit ideas!

I’d love to see all of your back to school winter inspirations so feel free to tag me in all your posts on social media! ‘Til next time, lovelies.
