STYLE GURU STYLE: Animal Instinct

With finals quickly approaching us, the last thing on many students minds is planning what to wear next, while trying to stay warm on their way to class. But what if there was something to wear that is both warm and comfortable?

Not only is this cozy trend super stylish, but its eco-friendly as well. Yes, I am talking about faux fur! This trend has been seen from street styles to runways, worn it multiple ways in various styles and patterns. Fur is a key fashion trend this season, keeping us warm and fashionable. Other than your typical winter coat, fur vests or coats are a striking, essential piece that will dress up the most simple of outfits, rather than hiding them.

What inspired my outfit was Tom Ford’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection. I was captivated by his creativity in the way he incorporated fur into the models’ outfits—so tastefully yet edgy. Tom Ford takes fur to a whole new level, turning it into a major fashion statement. Tom Ford executes how to expect the unexpected, by wearing fur with different styles whether it be as a vest, coat or as lining of a collar or cuff.

I also really admired his use of tall boots. You can never go wrong with a pair boots. They are the key to class and can be worn with various styles. I decided to integrate both of these major fashion statements seen on the runway into one outfit. I paired leather leggings with my fur vest over a basic black turtleneck. For a more subjective appearance, I added a chunky gold, bracelet and a triangular shaped necklace.

I’m not letting finals get in my way of feeling and looking good, and you shouldn’t either.

Get My Look: 1. Faux fur vest. 2. Leather leggings. 3. Over-the-knee boots.
