STYLE GURU STYLE: ’70s

Fall fashion trends usually consist of plaids, riding boots and chunky sweaters, but the recent runway season has featured major blasts from the past. From the gauzy, printed dresses to the solid, wide-leg trousers, fall 2015 is totally embracing the ’70s. The Joie fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection was the main inspiration behind my boho look. I completely fell in love with the collection when it first debuted on the runway, and I have been eagerly waiting to sport this trend.

As much as I wish I could be runway ready in Joie’s beautiful pieces, I took the liberty of adapting my look to campus life and the unusually warm fall weather. Instead of a flowing maxi dress with heeled boots, I rocked a flowing, open-back romper with low-top sneakers. I threw my hair into a braid and slipped on my round sunglasses to complete the hippie-era theme of my look.

This trend is an easy go-to when getting ready because of how versatile it can be. My sneakers and sunglasses dressed my romper down for an everyday look, but worn with booties or heels would be perfect for a night out! Even as the weather changes, I can’t wait to wear my romper with boots and a sweater or denim jacket. Despite the bold pattern, a printed dress or romper can look completely different through how it is accessorized.

Get My Look: 1. A printed romper. 2. Casual sneakers. 3. Round sunglasses.
