STYLE GURU STLYE: Modern Monochrome

alice + olivia designer Stacy Bendet can do no wrong in my book; the recent pre-fall 2015 show demonstrated some of her greatest strengths by utilizing strong silhouettes, colors and fabrics. The prints were bold on solid neutral canvases and the colors were saturated and vibrant, the perfect seasonal wear. There was a vast array varying from maxi/midi skirts to palazzo pants to crop tops. The range was breathtaking and the luxurious fabrics gave the overall collection a very modern classy feel. Each ensemble makes a statement and carries an inherently posh and put-together air.

I personally fell in love with each and every one of these outfits, but to translate it for class I opted for my favorite combination—all black. Like the second look in the alice + olivia collection, I opted for a monochromatic color scheme and kept the pieces similar. The blouse adds a sophisticated feel to the overall look, especially when paired with structured pants. The loose top tucked into the loose pants adds a tad bit of definition to the overall look and thus a dash of femininity. The pants themselves are a modern take on a more relaxed look. The subtle ruching at the waist and added belt make it slightly more modern and sophisticated, but not too dressy, for such an occasion as school. I finished off the look with a stacked heel bootie to add a little bit of height and elongate the lines created by the all black ensemble even further.

Get My Look: 1. Wide leg pants. 2. A chiffon blouse. 3. Round sunnies.
