STYLE GURU BIO: Tyler McClelland

Hey guys! I’m Tyler McClelland and I am (finally) wrapping up my time her at SCAD! It has been a journey, to say the least. This is the beginning of my last year of college as well as CollegeFashionista, and I am so glad I get to share it with all of you.

I am originally from Chicago and made my way to Georgia four years ago. My first stop was to whimsical and historic city of Savannah, Georgia. That city greeted me with people who became pillars of strength and support in my life, helping me get a handle on my new life away from home. I made bonds and friendships with people that will prayerfully be in my life for years to come.

One of my best experiences to date was my first drawing class. We all sat in front of our wooden easels in a beautifully restored old classroom that had windows to the ceiling, soaking in the morning sun and truly flexing our artistic muscles. After transferring to SCAD Atlanta, most people ask me which campus I prefer. The hardest thing about answering that question is that each city has provided me with what I needed at the time. Thoughts of Savannah will always be met with warm feelings and memories of picnics and festivals at Piedmont Park, delicious lunch dates at Zunzi’s and Fire Sushi. I can’t forget the dreadful yet thrilling all-nighters that always included a trip to Parker’s gas station, which for some odd reason has the best fried catfish at 2:00 am! Atlanta, however, is a city of opportunity and rich diversity which makes me more than pumped to see what happens during my time here.

I am not the only buzzing SCAD Bee on campus with the amazing opportunity to scout Fashionistas/os. I am so glad I get to be a part of the CollegeFashionista team this fall along with all the other SCAD Atlanta Style Gurus that i’ll meet along the way. Considering fall is may absolute favorite season for fashion I am so ready to get the school year started and to see how my classmates rock their layered looks. It is still way too hot to pull out scarves and boots but I am itching for fall fashion. I couldn’t help myself so I chose to layer this heathered turtleneck top with a loose sleeveless dress underneath. This way still get the effect of a layered look without packing on the heat. I kept this monochromatic look sporty by finishing my look with black and white Nikes.
