STYLE GURU BIO: Tegan Davis

My name is Tegan Davis and I am a sophomore studying Advertising at the University of Florida. I have always had an insatiably curiosity, fixed on exploration and seeking beauty in everything. CollegeFashionista is the perfect outlet for this desire as I pursue diverse style. As I enter my second semester as a Style Guru, I am looking forward to discovering and sharing those distinct fashion moments on the UF campus.

The best part about fashion is the hunt, whether it’s shopping at hole-in-the-wall thrift stores or digging through my mom’s (even boyfriend’s mom’s) old clothes. There’s no other feeling like finding that timeless piece of wearable art. Thinking about the history of fashion, or even the travels of one vintage article of clothing, gives depth to a seemingly superficial industry.

My style reflects this desire to connect with the clothes I wear. I would describe it as “nostalgic modernism,” as much of an oxymoron as that is. I love to combine something old and charming with something new and forward. In this case, I chose a vintage Kikit shirt paired with an H&M fuzzy cardigan and acid-washed skinnies. My favorite pair of Annie Hall sunglasses, patent Zara booties and a denim backpack (poop emoji sold separately) top off the look.

There is no rule book to fashion, and you don’t need a lot of money to express good taste. I hope to discover those Fashionistas/os on my campus that take those facts and run with them. Especially being so young, we are all constantly growing and evolving, and it will be interesting to see the style changes this semester will bring. Moving forward, I am eager to make connections and continue letting fashion be fun.
