STYLE GURU BIO: Sarah Hertlein

Hey Fashionistas/os! My name is Sarah Hertlein and I am currently a sophomore at Texas Christian University. I’m majoring in Fashion Merchandising. This will be my first semester with CollegeFashionista and I cannot wait to share with y’all all my thoughts on the latest trends and let you know what is going on on my campus!

Originally I’m from Long Island, New York, just a short train ride away from New York City. Some of you might be wondering “why would she ever leave New York?” Well, basically I have lived in New York all my life and decided that for college I wanted to break out of the “norm” and come down south. I always knew when thinking about college that I wanted to migrate south for the warmer weather. And coming to TCU I found exactly that plus a major that I was really interested in! Getting two of my favorite things, warm weather and fashion in one was a match made in heaven, and there was no way I couldn’t come down here.

Since I was little I’ve always been into fashion. Since age five, I’ve put way more time into picking out my outfits than any of the other girls. I knew from a very early age fashion was what I wanted to do. I would style anyone or anything, from my dolls to my sisters. To this day I am still the “go-to-girl” for my family and friends on what to wear. My dream is to hopefully one day become a stylist and take what Ive been doing since a very young age and have my life revolve around it.

So now, let’s talk fashion. The fall season has always been one of my favorites. I love the crisper colors in the leaves and the cooler air, although I don’t really quite get that here in Texas. This dress I’m wearing, from Free People, is such a great transition piece from summer to fall. You can wear it out to dinner with family or friends and pair it with cute sandals or wedges. As well as add great gold accessories, such as these Alex and Ani bracelets and my Michael Kors watch that I’m obsessed with. But when fall rolls around, you can pair it with a cute pair of tall boots and a floppy hat. I’d like to think that this dress is an accurate representation of my personal style. My personal style comes from a variety of places. I always love to see what Whitney Port or Emma Roberts is wearing. Their style is so free and effortless. I also am completely obsessed with anything Free People. All their clothes are so perfect in every way possible. It’s fun and flirty, and it’s such a great balance of the two.

Hope you enjoyed getting to know me a little better. Can’t wait to share more of my fashion advice with CollegeFashionista this semester!!!
