Hi Style Gurus! I’m Rachel and this is my first semester as a Style Guru. I love summer fashion but am so excited for fall, it’s my favorite time of year.
I was born and raised outside of Annapolis, Maryland. I am starting the fall semester halfway through my junior year at Towson University. Towson is just north of Baltimore, Maryland. What I love most about my state is that it offers variety. To the west are the mountains, to the east is the ocean; we have two great cities in close proximity, Baltimore and Washington D.C.. The Chesapeake Bay goes through the state allowing people to enjoy water privileges such as boating and waterfront restaurants.
My major is Communications with a track in Public Relations and my minor is Art History. My goals for the next couple of years are to move to New York City to work in PR and fashion. Then I want to go to a fashion graduate school in New York or London.
I want to work with fashion houses, magazines, public relation firms, galleries, museums, television networks, social media, websites and blogging. I love self-expression and how it shows the individuality and personal taste of each person. I love keeping up with what’s in; for example, this summer fringe and denim.
This internship is already making me further appreciate fashion and each individual’s style. I’m excited for this experience to allow me to practice and improve my writing and photography skills.
Lately I have been collecting fashion books and have become infatuated with D.V. the memoirs of Diana Vreeland. She is the ultimate role model along with Rachel Zoe, Barbra Streisand, Jacqueline de Ribes, Anna Wintour, Diane von Furstenberg and Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel.
In this outfit, I am wearing a white lace top with bell sleeves. I am also wearing my most common accessory, a silver and rose gold Marc by Marc Jacobs watch. Also a popular look this summer, I am wearing round sunglasses. Everyone this season had denim in their closets. I chose a button front A-line jean skirt. Lastly, I am wearing a pair of brown leather Michael Kors wedges (I am five foot two, and as a short girl I need to wear some kind of a heel as much as possible).
