STYLE GURU BIO: Qian Yi

January 26th, 2017 at 2:00am

My name is Qian Yi, but I also go by Catherine.  I’m a sophomore in University of Wisconsin Madison majoring in journalism and communication arts. Movie lover, traveler, shopping mania are my tags. I’m crazy about fashion movies, and my favorite one is The Devil Wears Prada. TV series such as Gossip Girl also inspire me a lot in terms of fashion. I’m so excited to be a Style Guru and start this new journey with you guys!

I love trying all kinds of new things and challenging myself, including fashion. Every time I open my closet, I can find clothes in blue, red, pink, black, grey and khaki. I might wear a white hoodie with a red baseball cap, pairing it with black shorts and a striped sneaker on Monday, and change to a more urban look often fabricated with a camel coat, chamois black boots, and a tote bag on Tuesday. To me, fashion is a tool to compliment myself and a way to change my mood. The style one chooses can actually change how one feels and experiences everyday. There is an old Chinese saying that goes: “Clothes make the man.” I totally agree with this, because what one wears can really change his/her body image.  So, fashion is also an interesting topic that worth life-long learning.

For this look, I picked one of my favorite wool coats, with a gray cashmere scarf, and a pair of knee-length boots. The color old mauve is absolutely right for the winter. Because of its softness, this color can make you look more gentle and feminine. And the gray cashmere scarf complements the coat and also prepare you for the cold winter. The baked clay trilby is the highlight of this look. Besides a trilby, a plain beret would also be a good choice. For accessories, I suggest to keep it simple. A simple earring such as this loop metal one can’t go wrong.

2017 is destined to be an exciting year, and I’m so motivated to explore the fashion world and share my style with you! Hope you will like my feeds and let’s continue to style on!
