Hey Fashionista/os! I’m Olivia Jackson and I’m thrilled to be a Style Guru for my third and final semester! I’m a second semester senior at Williams College, double majoring in art history and english, and looking to go into the fashion industry after graduation! Over the last few months, I’ve had the opportunity to work at a small women’s clothing boutique in Williamstown, MA, which has helped me observe the emerging and ongoing trends in my college town. I’m eager to apply what I’ve learned from working at the store not only to the way I think about products and outfits, but also to my writing, as my knowledge of trends and fashion terminology continues to expand!
Over the last semester as a Style Guru, I have observed and written about the shift in style trends as temperatures began to drop and the snow began to fall! I have emphasized looks that are simple, classy, and practical for every day wear, but are also easy to pull together on the fly before class. From mixing and matching neutrals to finding a comfortable, easy, two-in-one sweater top, I have noted my peers keeping it cute and simple around campus!
For my last semester, I’m really looking forward to watching the seasons change because that always means new looks and trends. The spring is the perfect time to rock cropped jeans and lighter outerwear, and begin to dust off your sandals and flats! Don’t be afraid to pull out your favorite dress or skirt and pair it with tights and a cardigan for a chic, cute outfit.
For this look, I have paired basic, classic-wash skinny jeans with a black long sleeve shirt, keeping it sophisticated, yet comfortable and easy. I am sporting my new favorite piece, a creamy off-white, cascading poncho to not only dress up my look, but to provide extra warmth! For my accessories, I have matched a Kate Spade scallop-trimmed watch with two gold bangles for a classy, simple and elegant combination. Also, I am wearing teardrop gold earrings to complement my gold accessories. To complete the look, I have chosen over-the-knee olive suede Tory Burch boots.
I’m so excited to be writing for CollegeFashionista again this semester! I can’t wait to see what trendy, unique looks this spring will bring!
