STYLE GURU BIO: Olivia Bleeker

Hey fellow Fashionistas and Fashionistos! My name is Olivia Bleeker and I am a sophomore at the University of Missouri – Columbia studying Textile and Apparel Management. I feel so thankful to be able to say that I am heading into my fifth semester of being a Style Guru on the CollegeFashionista team.

It’s crazy to think of all the places I’ve been, things I’ve done and friends I’ve made in these five short semesters. I started out my time as a Style Guru by writing the FASHION FROM ABROAD column while living in Guatemala. After that, I moved to a dorm room for my first year of college, moved back to my hometown of St. Louis and now just moved to an apartment of my own for my second year at college.

While so many things have changed, one of the huge things that has remained constant is my love for all things related to fashion. With all the different seasons as a Style Guru, it’s so interesting to me to look back at past articles and see what I was wearing. I believe that our style is constantly being influenced by everything around us. Whether this means the people, the music, the art, the nature, etc., I definitely think that our surroundings are definitely an influential part of how we dress. This past year, I have really loved the eclectic, funky and laid back vibe that my small college town has brought into my life. Because of this influence that the town had on me, on any given day you can find me wearing a plaid shirt tied around my waist, Birkenstocks on my feet and some kind of hat on my head.

So, my question for you is a simple one. How are your surroundings impacting your style this semester? Will your style change a little bit because you’re at a new school or with a different friend group?
