Hello Fashionistas/os! My name is Mimi Trenkle, and I am currently a sophomore at The University of Tennessee at Knoxville. My major is Retail and Consumer Science with a minor in Business Administration. I am very passionate about working towards my dream of having a career in the fashion industry. I love luxury fashion, and hope to work for a department store or a major fashion label. This is my first semester as a Style Guru and I could not be more excited to start!
I have always loved fashion because it is the easiest way for me to express myself. I love combining different themes and styles. I am constantly changing my looks. My style can be described as urban, edgy, eclectic and contemporary.
At a young age, I became obsessed with Gwen Stefani’s unique style. She inspired me to experiment with my clothes and makeup. I still love her ability to create grungy looks that always have an element of glamour. My other style icons include Alexa Chung, Lana Del Rey, Katy Perry, Sophia Amoruso, Chiara Ferragni and Zoe Kravitz.
My love of fashion is mirrored with my love of music. I enjoy following artists and music photographers. What artists wear on stage inspires a lot of my personal looks as well. I really love what Janelle Monae, Sky Ferreira, Florence + The Machine, Katy Perry, Mini Mansions, FKA Twigs and Marina and The Diamonds are all wearing during their performances this year. I love studying the history of my favorite bands and artists and seeing what they choose to wear on and off stage.
For my first look, I chose one of my most coveted dresses. This jewel print dress from H&M is the best for any fun occasion. I paired it with my shiny black Doc Martens that I wear at least once every week! I styled my outfit with the ‘Avery’ cross-body bag from Rebecca Minkoff and simple silver accessories. This is one of my favorite outfits in my closet right now.
