Hi! My name is Mikayla. I am a freshman studying communication and marketing at George Washington University. This is my first semester writing for CollegeFashionista and I’m so excited to get started!
Fashion is definitely my favorite form of self expression. I love that there are always new ways to transform a classic look, mix up your beauty routine, or completely change your style for a day or two. Whether you’re trying out a new trend or creating your own, any look can go from usual to unique with just a few personal touches. Being in college has given me a new space to try out new looks. In college, you can be whoever you want to be, and how you dress is a really important part of that decision. All in all, fashion offers a way to express yourself beyond just words.
For this look, I took my favorite black leather skirt and dressed it down with a simple white T-shirt, denim sherpa jacket, and boots. I added a pin to the jacket to make it more my own. This outfit is basically a combination of all my staple pieces. The skirt, for example, can be worn with super casual looks, like this one, or with slightly dressier looks. When paired with a cute bodysuit and some heels, it becomes the perfect addition for a night out. Jewelry is also a great way to upgrade a look. I love my “M” initial necklace because not only does it go with everything, but it also makes my outfit a little more personalized.
