STYLE GURU BIO: Michelle Igdalev

Hola Fashionistas/os! How sad is it that summer is over?! No fear, MichIgloo is here! I had such an awesome time writing for CollegeFashionista this past summer that I just could not stay away for the fall semester.

I am currently a senior (eek) at NYU Gallatin. Gallatin is perfect for me because it is a school in which rather than having a major we have concentrations that we focus on, culminating our college career with our very own individualized study. I am still focusing on Pre-Med, Fashion, Business and PR—obviously more on the fashion spectrum, but you never know when Medical School could come in handy! At NYU, I have been taught and worked alongside some insane fashion people. I have worked for years in the fashion industry, ranging from positions in PR to business development to fashion editor assistant to being a fashion director—you name it, and I’ve probably tried it.

My personal style changes all of the time. I like to go from street chic to work appropriate to 4:00 a.m. fabulous all in a matter of hours. Black is definitely a staple color in my wardrobe, but recently, I have been trying to spice things up (I mean, I’m wearing florals and pastels in this feature!) I also have recently found my love for jeans—a couple months ago, I would not be caught dead in jeans. However, now I am sticking less to skater skirts and dresses and more to ripped boyfriend jeans and bell bottoms, even having a guest appearance of overalls. Also, say goodbye to flats and hello to anything with a heel; I realized heeled shoes just make any outfit more flattering, sexier and are just so pretty to look at.

Being a first generation American, I definitely use my Russian heritage to influence my wardrobe. My fashion mentor is my super chic grandmother, who has a huge input on my closet. In this article, I’m actually wearing her vintage off the shoulder dress along with alice + olivia heels that I got only after seeing them in her closet.

I am so excited to show you all the newest trends, chicest street styles and hottest NYC looks for this fall. Stick with me, I promise it’ll be worth it!
