STYLE GURU BIO: Melanie Butron

September 3rd, 2016 at 2:00am

Hey beautiful Fashionistas/os, I’m back for my third semester as a Style Guru with CollegeFashionista and I’m super excited. My name is Melanie Butron and I am currently a junior at St. John’s University, which is in New York City. I’m a marketing major with a minor in fashion studies, and this internship has helped me meet so many awesome and stylish people on campus.

I think my style is constantly changing and is influenced by so many factors such as the season, the weather, my surroundings and my mood. As a result, clothes are constantly cycling in and out of my closet. This is partially because trends change so quickly and partially because I’m obsessed with online shopping. It is actually one of my goals to be a personal shopper or a stylist.

However, there are still a few things that have been my staples in my closet ever since high school. These classics include my black biker jacket, ripped jeans, white sneakers and black boots. These items have never failed me, but I am also open to trying new styles.

Here I am wearing one of my favorite summer tops, which also features a popular summer trend: off-the-shoulder sleeves. I love this top not only for its style, but also because it is super comfortable and breezy which is perfect for New York City’s humid summer days. I am also wearing a pair of my favorite distressed jeans and some simple color-blocked sandals. I have a secret obsession with bags and today I chose to go with a leather and canvas tote bag to hold all my essentials, like my water bottle and a book.

I tied this outfit together with some gold jewelry and a splash of color on my lips. I’m wearing “Ouiji” by ColourPop. I really love lipsticks and try to wear a different color every day to complement my outfit. Beauty is just as much a part of fashion as clothing. I am able to express myself through both mediums, which is why I love fashion so much.

Can’t wait to see what this semester has to offer, I know it’ll be #RAD!
