STYLE GURU BIO: Maya Rochefort

My name is Maya Rochefort and I am a double major in Apparel Design and Fashion Merchandising and a double minor in  Business Administration and Entrepreneurial Studies at the University of Delaware as a current junior.

Fashion is more than what clothes look good together, or what is trending. Fashion is a way to show people a preview of who you are and what you like. It is a way to express yourself and show people a different side of you.

I first fell in love with fashion when I was younger. I used to sketch clothes all the time and took sewing classes. My first project was to make pajamas and although I wouldn’t wear them today, that project showed me that I could create something that started as a sketch and make it into a wearable art.

One of my passions besides fashion is traveling. I have traveled to Hong Kong, France, Spain and many other places around the world. Each place I have visited has had their own distinct trends and ways of dressing. I have found fashion to be a way of bringing different cultures together to learn new ways of creating art and style.

I do not like to define myself as preppy or boho or any other specific style because I am influenced by all of them and like to pull pieces from each aesthetic to create my own look. I look forward to posting on CollegeFashionista and hope you like my looks!
