STYLE GURU BIO: Maegan Partee

Hello everyone! My name is Maegan Partee and I’m from Memphis, Tennessee. I attend the University of Memphis with a major in journalism.

My love for fashion began in my freshman year of college. I didn’t have to wear a school uniform anymore and I was excited to wear what I wanted. My favorite styles are bohemian, like flowy dresses in spring and cardigans in fall, and rocker chic, like moto jackets and boots.

I get most of my inspiration for my outfits on Pinterest. I love making new boards, for accessories, shoes, and dresses. Fashion week is my favorite subject. My top designers are Eli Saab, Marchesa, and Ralph & Russo. I love the movement that their dresses create and how elegant people look in them. Other designers I like are Zac Posen, Betsy Johnson, and Alexander McQueen.

In college, I started to work in different retail stores like JCPenney and Soma Intimates. I made displays, changed floor plans, and unpacked merchandise. The main thing I liked about those jobs is being creative even with a set plan. Although it was something as simple as dressing a mannequin or changing displays it was still fun.

After I graduate next year, I would love to work for a regional magazine and work my way up to bigger publications. I want to cover things like New York Fashion Week and celebrity trends. My goal is to be an editor for Vogue or Teen Vogue. If I don’t choose journalism as a career, I would want to go into buying for stores or being a visual merchandiser for companies like Torrid, Forever 21, or Charlotte Russe.

The main thing I love about fashion is how nonrestrictive it is. There is no right or wrong answer because style is different for everyone.
