STYLE GURU BIO: Maddie Magyar

Happy New Year world! As the saying goes, new year, new me. This year I really want to focus on having a greater sense of appreciation for life and becoming an all-around happier individual, and what better way to accomplish that than by staying true to your individuality and sense of style?

If you could see the color of my soul it would without a doubt be a neutral hue. That probably sounds a little wacky to you, but I’m serious. I’m obsessed. At the same time, it’s also my kryptonite when it comes to having such a simple color palette within my wardrobe.

I like to think of someone’s closet as a little glimpse into what their personality is like. For example, I think my style says that I like to play it safe, but I also like to be a little unexpected, hence the killer Jessica Simpson pumps in the color Burnt Umber. Unlike a lot of people, I enjoy being in jeans all day long, especially if they’re as comfortable as these Charlotte Russe high-rise skinny

Unlike a lot of people, I enjoy being in jeans all day long, especially if they’re as comfortable as these Charlotte Russe high-rise skinny jeans. Now let me tell you, these jeans are a serious steal. Not only are they super soft and stretchable, but their frayed hems look great any way you wear them. Since they’re high-rise, they’re perfect for tucking tops into them, like my classic white ribbed turtleneck that I found at a thrift store.

For outerwear, I chose this knee-length khaki coat, with my all-time favorite gray monochromatic, fringe scarf. I probably wear this sucker at least four times a week, but hey, I have no shame. The most important item I’m sporting though is definitely my black tote bag that I bought from Francesca’s a few years ago.

Unfortunately, it’s not being sold anymore, but you can find a similar Kate Spade one here! This bag is like the Mary Poppins of bags for me because it holds literally everything. You need a pair of scissors? They’re in the bag. You need 16 pens? Check the bag. Lastly, to spice things up a bit, I tied a beige handkerchief around my neck because let’s be real here—handkerchiefs will never go out of style.

I hope you’ve enjoyed getting a little sneak peek into my personality through my style and will stick around throughout the year to see what else CollegeFashionista has to bring!
