STYLE GURU BIO: Liz Lepore

I’m so excited to be back in the District, writing for CollegeFashionista for my fourth year! I can’t believe I’m a senior! It’s been such an incredible outlet for me and has been interesting to see how my own personal style has evolved over the years. I went from a nervous freshman wielding a brand new camera outside of Thurston to a senior who has been working in fashion for the past few years.

I spent the spring studying abroad in Barcelona and have not been back at GW for months. I had an amazing time traveling to new cities on the weekends and absorbing the culture in my new home. I developed an affection for Zara and Mango, just like I began to love vino tinto and patatas bravas. The street style in Barcelona was definitely different than anywhere else I had lived. Everyone seemed to put more effort into what they wore, even if it was just a cool pair of sneakers and ripped jeans. Athleisure was definitely not a thing in this Mediterranean city.

This summer, I interned at Cynthia Rowley as the social media intern. I got the chance to work with an amazing team of people, including Cynthia herself. I helped with everything from press clippings to delivering dresses to celebrities. I even got to set up for a baby shower that Kelly Ripa was hosting. Cynthia has a candy company called Curious, that was catering the event. It was one of those unbearably humid NYC days, but it was so rewarding to see it all done. Kelly was so sweet.

I lived in the big apple, the city I’ve been dreaming about since I was a little girl from the suburbs. I got to know the New York subway system like the back of my hand. Even though I grew up only an hour train ride from the city, it felt like miles away from my small town. There’s just so much to do and see. It never gets old.

I can’t wait to start a new semester, even though I am so not ready to graduate. Cheers to a brand new year!
