STYLE GURU BIO: Laura Elebesunu

September 1st, 2016 at 2:00am

Hello! My name is Laura Elebesunu, and I am a junior at Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York. I’m majoring in digital media production with minors in history and hopefully music business! I’m also interested in the fashion industry and was thrilled when I discovered CollegeFashionista.com. I joined the CollegeFashionista team in the fall of 2015 and loved the ability to showcase cool looks I saw around campus. After taking a semester off, I am so happy to be returning as a CollegeFashionista Style Guru!

This look I am wearing above is comfortable, yet stylish and perfect for daytime at classes or a chill night with friends. My black patterned crop top is made out of a very light material, which is fitting for these hot East Coast temperatures. I paired it with American Apparel straight high-waisted, light wash boyfriend jeans and matte black Dr. Martens 1460 boots. I rock my Dr. Martens year-round and personally felt fine in these jeans, but if this seems like it would be too heavy for you in these last few weeks of warm weather, swap the jeans for a pair of shorts and a pair of Vans or Converse. I’ve added a fluffy, black backpack to get even more of that ’90s nostalgia!

I opted out of jewelry for this look and decided to focus on my makeup and hair. This warm brown lip is Kae by Karrueche x Colourpop. As for my hair, I’m rocking a twist out! To get that curly-kinky look, I twisted all of my hair into two twists, making sure to be generous with the moisturizer. After wearing them in twists for a few days, I untwisted them all. I tied a small section of hair from my crown to the middle of my head and pulled out a strand in the front. For us natural girls, this style is a great way to avoid over-manipulation, while also stretching your hair. It’s also perfect for a busy college gal like myself!

I will definitely be wearing different variations of this look during my first few weeks of classes. It’s easy, breezy and a perfect transition outfit to the fall!
