STYLE GURU BIO: Kymberlie Smith

Ciao, Fashionistas! My name is Kymberlie Smith, and I am a junior fashion merchandising student at Kent State University. I am also working on a minor in public relations. I am freshly returned from the biggest adventure of my lifetime: studying in Europe for an entire semester. I am so excited to bring all of the things that I learned about European fashion and apply them here at CollegeFashionista.

It’s very hard for me to describe my own personal style. I wouldn’t say that I actually have a specific style; I just wear what stands out to me and what I am comfortable in. I like wearing basic outfits (mostly all black) and making them trendy with statement pieces such as bright velvet shoes, metallic jackets, or leather pants. After taking a peek into my closet, you will find a mix of neutral colors but mostly black. Lately, I have found an obsession with jackets. Leather jackets, jean jackets, bomber jackets, give me all of the jackets! I also can’t stop buying boots, and right now I’m obsessed with block-heeled booties.

In this look I am wearing black skinny jeans, a black bodysuit, and a jean jacket—three essential pieces in any Fashionista’s wardrobe if you ask me. I made this look more fashion-forward by adding a plaid scarf and a western-inspired belt, both of which are super trendy right now. My favorite part about this look would have to be my FENTY Puma X Rihanna Velvet Creeper sneakers. I seriously cannot get enough of these shoes, and I am constantly looking for ways to incorporate them in my outfits.

I have been following CollegeFashionista for a few years now, and I am so thrilled to be writing for the very source of so much of my own fashion advice and inspiration. Rachel Zoe once said, “Fashion is a way to say who you are without having to speak.” This is a quote that has really inspired me to be expressive with my style.

I have truly found my life’s passion in fashion, and I cannot wait to share with you guys all of the styles that inspire me!
