STYLE GURU BIO: Kristina Lee

September 2nd, 2015 at 2:00am

Hi fellow Fashionistas! My name is Kristina Lee and I am currently a sophomore at Elon University in Elon, North Carolina. I am originally from Clarksville, Maryland, just southeast of Baltimore. I cannot put into words how excited and grateful I am to be a Style Guru for College Fashionista this semester. As I previously stated in my bio, I am double majoring in Communication Design and Strategic Communications with a minor in Multi-Media Authoring.

Even from my long ago elementary school days, I remember myself sitting on the couch after school watching episode after episode of How Do I Look? and America’s Next Top Model. I was always so interested in what the latest trend was and how you could turn an outfit from dull to chic. I was always and still am so excited when I have something new to add to my wardrobe. It’s an explanation for why it took almost nine full garbage bags to move my closet from home to school this year. It’s a blessing and a curse.

On top of my love for fashion and design, I also have a lot of experience with photography and writing. In high school, I took three photography courses and two journalism courses. I believe that my interest in fashion sparked during my junior and senior year because I really started to expand and experiment with my style. Just last fall, I also started working with The Edge, Elon’s student-run magazine, which covers everything from campus news to health and fashion! I am currently on the design team and am also named one of the assistant editors of the fashion section. Working with The Edge has allowed me to gain so many skills including working with student models, casting photo-shoots, and even my own modeling. My dream is to eventually take my experiences and knowledge and write and design for a major fashion magazine such as NYLON or Vogue.

If I were to describe my style, I would describe it as preppy mixed with boho. I love prints and color in my clothing, but also love neutrals and plain staple pieces. In this outfit, I am wearing my most recent purchase, a navy and white printed jumpsuit. I feel that during the cooler summer days, jumpsuits are the way to go because your whole outfit comes together in one simple piece without any extra stress. For shoes I am wearing my favorite camel colored Franco Sarto wedges from Marshalls, the homeland of bargains. When it comes to jewelry, I am obsessed with gold so I accessorized this outfit with a gold cuff bracelet from J.Crew, my simple gold Tory Burch watch and my favorite gold layering necklaces from various places.

I’ll be writing to you wonderful Fashionistas again next month! I can’t wait for an amazing semester.
