STYLE GURU BIO: Kayla Rapp

My name is Kayla Rapp and I am currently a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater studying human resource management and Spanish. I’ve been a long time reader of CollegeFashionista even before college and I’m excited to have the opportunity to share my campus’ fashion with you all!

Whitewater is know as being a ‘suitcase college,” or a school where everyone leaves once the weekend comes. For me, this is somewhat true! When I’m not on campus hanging with friends, I enjoy exploring my hometown of Milwaukee or driving the short distance to Madison, Wisconsin’s capital, or Chicago to hit up local restaurants, stores and cafes.  Bigger cities inspire me, while Whitewater’s small country setting keeps me focused when I need to get work done.

Winters in the midwest can be BRUTAL! While it’s all too easy to throw on some warm leggings and Uggs, I prefer to wear cute ankle booties, scarves and jackets to take my outfits from frumpy to fashionable. I would describe my personal style as feminine, but I’m not afraid to experiment with other styles. Normally, I base my outfits off of how I’m feeling that specific day, midwest weather permitting.

One trend I was slow to jump on was leather jackets. I just didn’t think I’d get much wear out of them, but boy was I wrong! This army green leather jacket is from Forever 21 and is everything a jacket needs to be to keep me warm through winter. Anyone who knows me knows I live for Kate Spade bags, mostly because they’re just so darn cute! My black and tan polka dot bag was on sale from the outlet mall, but Kate Spade always has a large selection of vibrant bags with different colors and designs. This one is one I’m currently eyeing. Another staple to any outfit of mine is cute ankle booties and these western-inspired booties have been my go-to for awhile now.

I’m always reading up on the latest trends and styles and can’t wait to see where my experience with CollegeFashionista takes me!
