STYLE GURU BIO: Katie Yang

Hello Fashionistas! My name is Katie Yang and I’m currently enrolled at the University of Washington as a freshman. I’m interested in business marketing, design, and all things storytelling. I have recently been mentored by a lead strategist in social media marketing and also took the opportunity to help with Seattle’s first lifestyle/fashion blogger conference. I am also currently a member of the Seattle Seahawks Street Team! Go Hawks! I would describe myself as an adventure seeking and sports loving Fashionista. I’m always looking for new experiences, new people to meet, and ways I can push myself for growth.

I’m born and raised in Bellevue, a small city just 20 minutes away from the beautiful Seattle. I love exploring the Pacific Northwest and Seattle’s little nook and crannies. My hobbies include finding foodie gems with friends, playing basketball, and just overall lounging. Your girl is a big fan of a night in but is also up for a night out. My current food obsessions are poke bowls and Korean tofu soup! One of the things that I love about Seattle is the variety of cultures and foods it brings together. There’s the cliche that food is the key to someone’s heart, and I confess that it completely applies to me.

The weather tends to be a bit on the chillier side here in Seattle and because of this sometimes us Seattleites have to get more creative when it comes to balancing the sides of functionality and fashion. I’m a firm believer in being able to express oneself no matter the weather so here I’m pictured with a navy duster coat from Zara that definitely helps keep me warm in this winter season. Underneath that, I layered it with a Forever 21 ribbed simple white long sleeve and skinny black cuffed jeans from PacSun. I decided to spice things up with the a double clasp belt from Boohoo and caramel sock booties also from Zara. In my opinion, simplicity is key to being comfortable yet stylish and I try to achieve that in my outfits. Im so excited to be in the CollegeFashionista community and I can’t wait for what the future holds!
