Happy 2017! To all of the returning Fashionistas and Fashionistos checking out my articles, welcome back! To any new Fashionistas and Fashionistos, get ready for a fun semester! My name is Katherine Henao. If you’re mad at me, you can call me Katherine Marie Henao, but usually it’s just my mom that does that. For those of you who don’t know, I am currently a junior at Bryant University and majoring in global supply chain management with a minor in Spanish and marketing. With my degree, I plan to become a buyer for a retail company.

Ending up at a business school wasn’t always my plan. I have always had a love for fashion and, initially, I wanted to become a fashion designer. I decided to come to business school because I thought it was more practical to major in business. Plus my drawing skills are so terrible that I took a whole semester of drawing class at school, and I still struggle drawing stick figures. Once I began studying at Bryant, I was worried that I was not going to be able to pursue a career that had anything to do with fashion. Much to my surprise, I was wrong! I realized that fashion is much more than creating the clothes, it’s a huge business. By majoring in global supply chain management and, hopefully, eventually becoming a buyer, I am able to combine my love for fashion with my new found love for business.

In addition to discovering this amazing major, I am also a part of many amazing clubs and organizations including Bryant Fashion Forum. I serve as the treasurer of this club, once again combining fashion and business. I’ve realized that instead of my admiration for fashion diminishing once I started school, it actually grew. It is now that I feel the most comfortable in the outfits I wear and I am not ashamed to try new things. Going to a business school and being surrounded by students who don’t tend to go outside of the box when it comes to dressing up, it pushes me even more to dress uniquely.

Though my style is constantly evolving, I always come back to a grunge style. If you see me on a regular basis, you realize that I am indeed obsessed with chokers. I have even made some chokers of my own. Hopefully they never go out of style because I will be very distraught. I also collect crystals including crystal necklaces. One of my new obsessions are thigh high boots. They’re actually knee high but they turn into thigh highs because I am only five feet tall. Lately, I have also been embracing my natural curls and treating my hair better.

Whether you want tips on what to wear or you’re scrolling on my articles just for fun, get ready for a wonderful semester. I am so excited to be on the CollegeFashionista team once again and hope you’re excited too!
