STYLE GURU BIO: Julia Brandt

Hey hey Fashionistas! Summer is, well, over and I’m totally bummed about that but as soon as I learned I was going to be a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista I went from bummed to ecstatic really quickly.

My name is Julia Brandt, but you can call me Jules. I’m beginning my freshman year at Syracuse University as an undecided student. Deciding what I want to major in is difficult but what isn’t difficult is chasing the trends and knowing that fashion is a major—wink wink—part of who I am.

In my junior year of high school, I traveled to Italy where the culture completely captivated me. The loud colors of handbags, genuine leather products, fierce footwear and antique art and architecture hypnotized me. I was hooked. Shortly after I got back, I learned about Nordstrom’s BP. Fashion Board and rushed to apply. During my senior year, through Nordstrom, I had the opportunity to learn about spotting trends, pricing clothing, sketching pieces and much more.

The most rewarding part about being a member of the Fashion Board, was realizing who I was as a Fashionista. I do not have one style—although I do love menswear for women and I don’t wear a lot of tight clothing. Instead, I wear clothes that flow with the shape and motion of my body. I try to create looks that project the image of liberation. I love Free People, Anthropologie and boho boutiques for this reason.

On a normal day I wear clothing much like you see featured in these pictures! I chose to wear my favorite boyfriend jeans, a loose camo print muscle T-shirt to keep that masculinity flowing and brown suede lace-up pumps with a slight platform to add a little height and a bit of feminine mystique.

Figuring out what clothing makes you feel good is the foremost thing to consider when dressing. When I feel great about how I look, I feel invincible. What styles make YOU feel invincible?
